Welcome to Microbiome Research
More and more people are getting interested in microbiome research. The field is both interesting and applicable to a wide range of other scientific disciplines. Unfortunately there remains a lack of resources to help people get started or to answer their questions. To address this problem and offer a high quality resource for both novice and experienced microbiome investigators, I am going to start holding online office hours.
These online office hours will be available to any researchers with questions about their project design, analysis, standards in the field, or anything else research related. It is free to participate and you are encourage to ask questions and/or hang out and absorb the discussion material. People from academic, industrial, and other institutions are welcome to attend. Students are of course especially encouraged to attend.
This is very much a trial for me to gauge the utility of this outreach approach. I will therefore be starting with monthly office hours through the rest of the fall semester. If there is more demand I will increase the frequency, and if there is a lack of demand, I will probably kill the project.
I have a broad range of experience in genomic and microbiome research. Specifically, I have a lot of experience with metagenomics, and even more specifically, viral metagenomics. If you are interested in the topics, let's chat!
